Ynse DeinemaYnse is an experienced sailor and tech enthusiast. He is also the project coordinator for Roboat at the AMS Institute in Amsterdam. Ynse strongly believes that autonomous technology will accelerate the uptake of commercial vessels in cities worldwide: “I foresee a future where cities such as Amsterdam have a fleet of Roboats. These boats take care of logistics such as household waste and building materials, but they can also move people around in small ferry shuttles for commuters."
After six years of development and testing, MIT & AMS have created a fleet that can operate in an urban environment without the need for a skipper. The autonomous technology lowers operational costs, increases safety and enables a more flexible 24/7 operation. This presentation will cover the technology, use cases and the stepping stones from taking this research project to a commercially viable company.
